Quality improvement in health care is closely related to the development of human resources in the health sector.
Considering the importance of developing and maintaining advanced levels of knowledge, skills and competencies by the health professionals, the requirements for continuing medical education are now sanctioned in the Health Care Law of the Republic of Albania.
In this framework, the Ministry of Health, by means of the National Center of Continuing Education has developed and approved the “Regulatory Document on the recertification of health professionals”.  
This document defines:

1. The types of continuing education activities and credits
2. The categories of professionals involved in the recertification program
3. The procedures of the recertification program
4. The roles and the responsibilities of health institutions
